Insect Collector · Last updated July 22, 2026
Insect Collector is built to work entirely on your device. We don't run servers, we don't have accounts, and we never collect your data. This policy explains what that means in plain terms.
Insect Collector stores your photos, sightings, notes, and locations locally on your device. There are no accounts and no servers — we don't collect, upload, or sell any of your information.
Identifying a creature runs entirely on your device using a bundled model. Your photos are never sent anywhere for identification.
The app asks for the camera to take photos, your photo library to pick existing ones, and location only when you choose to pin where you found a creature. You can change these anytime in the Settings app.
Backups are created only when you choose to back up your collection, and are saved wherever you pick (such as Files or iCloud Drive). We never see them.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
Because the app collects no personal information and sends nothing off your device, it does not knowingly gather data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
